Images from my last 10 months of shooting: My under a year portfolio

The new Sony A7V was received by YouTubers with poor reviews but I find the camera fascinating for it's new sensor, frame rate, and pre-capture. It offers me a big file for landscape, architecture, and street photography, and 30 fps with 1 second pre-capture for sports. It's quite simply the Swiss Army Knife of cameras and at under $3k, I wanted to show what was possible. I bought two of these with the intention of shooting all of football season with them but find I'm using them for all my assignments and personal work. I will showcase a 10 month portfolio of everything I've shot with my two A7V's at PhotoCon this year.

PRIVATE CLASS: WesTcott for the Win: Portrait Lighting with Patrick Murphy-Racey

PM-R learned off-camera flash while working at the Milwaukee Journal in 1985 while still in college. While he is best known for his sports photography, PM-R always says his lighting skills are what pay the bills. PM-R has mastered the one light portrait over 40 years of assignments for newspapers, People, Time, Sports Illustrated, US News, Business Week, Fortune, and many other publications through the years. KISS is his motto for learning lighting (keep it simple stupid). It doesn't get more simple than the battery powered FJ Westcott strobe system. This presentation will take place in two parts. First, he will make a presentation of his work as well as more recent portraits shot in the last few months. The second part will be a more hands-on mini workshop to show how to actually make images right in the hotel. Don't miss it!

Patrick Murphy-Racey

Sony Artisan Patrick Murphy-Racey's roots are photojournalism from his time spent shooting for newspapers and then for Sports Illustrated. After an almost 40 year career shooting full-time, PM-R now spends most of his time doing education, helping people through teaching, workshops, and through One on On learning sessions on Zoom. While he has been best known for sports photography, PM-R's portfolio shows extreme examples of location lighting, high end portrait work, landscape, street/architectural photography, and other things that interest him. He also shoots a great deal from his motorcycle from his home in Tennessee and from his "other bike" out in Arizona.
