The Intentional Artist - Creating Income That Fits Your Life

Most creatives are taught how to create their art, but very few are taught how to build a business around it that is stable, profitable, and sustainable long term. In this presentation, I share what 15 years in the commercial construction industry taught me about planning, estimating, systems, and long-term thinking, and how those same principles translate directly into the creative business world.

Just like buildings rely on blueprints, successful businesses rely on structure. Without it, even talented creatives can find themselves overwhelmed, underpriced, and constantly reacting instead of building intentionally. This session walks through the foundational “blueprint” for a creative business that can grow without burning you out.

We’ll cover :

  • How to define success on your own terms instead of chasing industry expectations

  • Why niching down strengthens your work and attracts the right clients

  • How to build multiple pillars of income to stabilize your revenue

  • Marketing with intention instead of posting randomly and hoping it works

  • Creating education and experiences that expand both impact and income

  • Pricing your work properly by understanding your true Cost of Doing Business

  • Systems and workflows that automate repetitive tasks and protect your time

  • The bookkeeping metrics that help guide long-term growth decisions

  • Legal and logistical foundations that protect what you build

Attendees will leave with practical frameworks, new perspectives, and a clearer path toward building a creative career with intention and longevity.
