From Tri-X to phones, capturing images for half a century of Oklahoma and it's people, places and things. 2018 Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame inductee Doug Hoke has been covering the state with his cameras for over 50 years. He’s seen some things. Been under rotating clouds? Check. Movie stars? Check. Gruesome wrecks? Check. Nine different Governor’s administrations? Check. NCAA National Championships? Check. Locked inside the Orange Bowl at 2:00 am? Check. Worked for Sports Illustrated? Check. NFL, NBA, MLB? Check. Built black and white darkrooms in hotel bathrooms? Check. Doug Hoke

Doug Hoke has been on the photo staff at The Oklahoman since November 1976. Starting at Northwest Classen in newspaper and yearbook as a junior, then continuing his education at Central State University (now UCO). Hired in his third semester, he has covered anything you can think of for the paper. Hoke also was a freelancer for Sports Illustrated for about 10 years covering multiple sports and events, managed the photo staff for about a dozen years and was inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame in 2018.
